Project Funded: Working Film Establishment

Working Film Establishment uses the training ground of Neighborhood Film Company to prepare adults in recover for thriving employment, through an intensive 8-month apprenticeship.

This past April, Working Film held a project on Pure Charity to raise the funds necessary to put one man, Vince, through this apprenticeship program.   We were blown away by this project! In less than a month, 88 people rallied around Vince and completed this project, raising the $10,000 needed to support him!   We were honored to be a part of this journey with them and wish Vince all the best in his apprenticeship!

Meet Vince

Vince #2

“I’m completely new to the world of “crowd funding” and was overwhelmed by the outpouring of support and generosity from so many people unknown to me. Their faith in what we’re doing here at Working Film/Neighborhood Film Co. is making it possible for me to gain a new lease on life and career by learning and working with such a remarkable group of talented people.”
 -Vince Sangmeister, Working Film Apprentice
Check out what some of the rest of the team had to say:
This fundraiser encouraged my spirit. To see people actually believe in the saying, ‘Every person matters‘. You see so many fundraisers with huge numbers under the category ‘Lives Impacted’. I love that ours said 1, yet almost a hundred people came together with their time and money. That’s a beautiful declaration of love.”
- Ricky Staub, Co-Founder of Neighborhood Film Company
Vince is committed to making a change in his life. Working Film creates that opportunity, and the partnership with the Pure Charity community is an example of including others in the process of transformation.”
- Dominic Laing, Director/Editor for Neighborhood Film Company

“Perhaps everyone’s greatest fear is that at the end of the day, they are alone. But this PureCharity fundraiser for Vince exposes that fear as a terrible lie – it shows us instead that despite hardships, betrayals, and brokenness, we are never outside the possibility of being loved in community. And the nearly 100 people who rallied to support Vince is our resounding proof.”

 - Dan Walser, Executive Director of Working Film Estb.

Thirst No More is a trusted Field Partner of ours who is currently on the ground in Moore, OK.  Their mission is to transform communities through the power of compassion.  Their projects are typically in regions where people have been ravaged by war, tyranny, or natural disasters, with the storms that hit Oklahoma being their most recent project.

There are two ways you can get involved with Thirst No More in providing support on the ground in Oklahoma: supplies & volunteers.

Thirst No More responds to major disasters with PAKS (Primary Assistance Kits).  These kits are designed to meet the basic needs of people who have lost everything.

Currently in Oklahoma there is a need of the following supplies (all donations through the project listed below will be used to purchase these products from stores in the area)

  • Blue tarps
  • 2″ nails
  • 1×1 wood pieces to nail runners for blue tarps
  • Water for team

Over the coming days, Thirst No More will also be asking for volunteers to help with the clean up & relief efforts so that the Moore community can begin the process of rebuilding.

If you would like to volunteer, please contact Charlie Michalik at charlie@thirstnomore.org.
